• Elijah Rising prioritizes volunteer safety and provides continuous oversight and debriefing
Role Overview
Interventions are Elijah Rising’s frontline outreach initiative focused on engaging individuals currently experiencing sexual exploitation and trafficking. Volunteers participate in strategic, trauma-informed outreach across multiple environments, including street outreach, strip clubs, cantinas, hotels and motels, and illicit massage businesses. The goal is to build trust, provide immediate resources, and open pathways to safety, support, and healing.
This role requires emotional readiness, spiritual maturity, and a commitment to operating within established safety and accountability structures. Volunteers are never deployed alone and always serve as part of a trained team.
Required Training
All volunteers must complete mandatory training prior to serving, which includes
• Awareness of human trafficking indicators
• Trauma-informed engagement principles
• Safety protocols and crisis response
• Communication skills and outreach techniques
• Team structure and escalation pathways
Ongoing support and leadership oversight are provided throughout the outreach.
Key Responsibilities
• Outreach Engagement: Compassionately engage individuals in high-risk environments to build trust and offer hope without pressure or judgment
• Resource Distribution: Provide gift bags, food, and water
• Safety and Teamwork: Operate within a team structure, following all safety protocols and the leader's direction
• Observation and Reporting: Accurately communicate concerns, disclosures, or safety issues to team leadership in real time. Report metrics to team leaders.
